As Andria continues to grow into her new life as a vampire, she discovers a beautiful disruption in the form of a human boy named Evan. When Andria and Evan fall for each other, she discovers that The Fire burns inside of her. The Fire, an unfathomable bond to someone else, is something no one can ignore no matter how hard a person tries.
When her friend, Marcus, discovers that she is dating a human, Andria finds herself in a world of trouble, trouble she is scared will end in Evan’s death. Andria refuses to break-up with Evan, so Marcus takes matters into his own hands. He sends a vampire hit man to dispose of Evan, but Evan’s parents die in the crossfire by mistake, or so he thinks. When Andria and Evan continue to rebel against Marcus, he is more determined than ever to stay in control. Marcus kidnaps Evan while simultaneously throwing him into the world of blood letting, which convinces Evan that there is more to Marcus than anyone ever knew. In order to free Evan, Marcus forces Andria to make a dangerous deal that leaves her questioning what little humanity she has left.
